November 1A Night at the OperaNorthwest Florida Symphony Orchestra Featuring the Northwest Florida Symphony Chorus. An evening of arias, duets, and symphonic selections from classic operas. At the Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center's mainstage at 7:30pm. November 1-8Art WeekArts and Design Society, 17 First St SE, Ft Walton Beach A week full of art fun. The high schools will compete against each other with their own “Community Painting” a painting with 16 – 24 students working on it. There will be paintings at the ADSO gallery for adults and children to paint on also. Other events include “Team Art” where three to four artists do a piece of art work using the same inspiration, “Art Market”, full of art supplies and art work for sale and “Gotta Have Art” we will offer several three hour classes in different media with all supplies included – cost $25. The week will end with an “Art Party”. Attendees are asked to dress as their favorite artist. Fees for the “Community painting” or “Team Art” are $5 each. Godspell features a sparkling score by Stephen Schwartz and boasts a string of well- loved songs, led by the international hit, “Day By Day”. As the cast performs “Prepare Ye The Way Of The Lord”, “Learn Your Lessons Well”, “All For The Best”, “All Good Gifts”, “Turn Back, O Man” and “By My Side”, the parables of Jesus Christ come humanly and hearteningly to life. November 7- December 19Creative Kids Series for PreschoolersAbrakadoodle Ages 3 - 5 1-1:45pm $100. Children that have previously enjoyed Creative Kids will enjoy learning new skills in this class. Childen new to the class will be able to jump right in this age appropriate class. All lessons are new! November 22White Sands OrchestraEmerald Coast Concert Association (ECCA) Fort Walton Beach Civic Auditorium, 7:30 p.m. ECCA kicks off a great season with a local big band favorite! For 25 years the White Sands Orchestra has been dazzling audiences across the Gulf Coast. This season’s ECCA opening night performance features the Big Band Era swing sounds of Glenn Miller, Elgart, Dorsey, Stan Kenton, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich and others. Enjoy waltzes, tangos and rumbas, along with Broadway show tunes, as you journey through an evening of memories. The group of eight brass, five saxophones, three rhythm instruments and accompanying vocalists, will belt out the full spectrum of Big Band sound loved for more than 60 years.
